Somehow, we’re already midway through 2025! That makes it a perfect time to check in with ourselves. What better way to do that than with some mid-year check-in questions? These questions serve to spark deeper thought about how your year’s been going and how you want the rest of it to go. Without further ado, here they are!
1- “Looking back on my New Year’s resolutions for 2025, do I still align with them?”
A lot can change in six months—not just in terms of our progress with our goals but our goals themselves. You might have chosen resolutions at the end of 2024 that you no longer feel compelled to pursue. For instance, maybe you were laser focused on huge fitness goals at that time, whereas now, your main priority is your business. It may not mean you’ve completely abandoned your desire to become more active, just that it’s not as important to you right now. That’s okay! We’re allowed to change and evolve over time. Different seasons of life call on us to prioritize different things.
Just be sure that your change of heart is coming from the right places. In other words, your goals shouldn’t do a complete 180° just because it’s taking time to see results. If you still truly desire those results, remember that good things take time, and they’re worth that time. Remind yourself what you’re capable of, and know that this is no exception. As for the goals you genuinely no longer feel called to prioritize, though, it’s perfectly fine to let them go or at least let them take a backseat. Maybe you’ll find your way back to them in the future, or maybe you won’t. For now, focus on the goals that still resonate with you. They’ve stood the test of at least six months’ worth of time, which says something!
2- “As for the resolutions I still align with, what progress have I made in the last six months?”
Hopefully, your action-taking spirit has stuck with you beyond January (wink, wink, point #2 in How to Set Yourself Up for Success in the New Year), and you’ve seen some progress. As per the last point, good things take time, so this certainly doesn’t mean there needs to be full-blown end results yet. Every goal is unique and requires a different timeline. If you have reached your desired end result already, amazing! If you haven’t yet, that doesn’t mean you haven’t taken plenty of steps forward. Pay attention to the consistent actions you’ve taken and the small shifts in the right direction you’ve had. These all add up to getting you closer to where you want to be!
If you feel like things could be moving more quickly, now’s a good time to reevaluate what you can do differently. Maybe it’s being more consistent in your action-taking, taking more frequent action, taking different types of actions, etc. Allow yourself to experiment with different approaches to see what works for you. In the meantime, be proud of yourself for all you’ve already accomplished! I’d venture to guess that it’s more than you give yourself credit for!
3- “What do I want my next six months to look like?”
This is a great check-in question to answer through a detailed, written visualization. Since you’re only thinking about the next six months, you’ll want to be realistic about what’s possible within that timeframe. However, that doesn’t mean that the next six months can’t still be incredibly transformative, so there’s no need to play small either! Again, consider how much all the little things can add up. Your outcomes in life are heavily shaped by the small decisions you make everyday. Think about how you want to dress, eat, speak, work, handle situations, interact with people, etc. Think about what content you want to consume, what habits you want to form and break, what routines you want to have, etc.
Most importantly, think about how all of these things will collectively make you and your life better. These improvements can include things the eye can’t see, such as your outlook on life, mental health, confidence, etc. The internal glow-up will bring the external glow-up that much further! When reflecting, examine what’s been working for you and what hasn’t. We tend to stick with things longer than we need to, whether out of habit or obligation. However, it’s never too late to rearrange things in better alignment with what we want or need. When we become more conscious and intentional, we adjust to what works best for us. Here’s your reminder to do that for yourself!
The bottom line…
While these check-in questions are especially great for midway through a year, you can reflect on them whenever you see fit. Anytime that you sense a need for a reevaluation or change, they can be helpful to ask yourself. Sometimes a new chapter (or midway point of a chapter) just serves as the perfect prompt for reflection! May your check-in be illuminating, constructive, and a reminder of how proud you should be of yourself!
