Trust and Have Faith in These 5 Things to Change Your Life

A key recurring theme in my “WOW” is the importance of trust. Trust in ourselves, trust in something bigger than ourselves, trust in the process, etc. In general, this sense of faith tends to result in greater peace and ease. Today’s blog post is all about even more specific things that we should place our trust in—and how each one can be life-changing in its own ways. So, without further ado, here are 5 things to have faith in!

1- Your ability to succeed in the ways you desire

Too often, we underestimate how much we’re capable of, when all we have to do is look back at all we’ve already accomplished. You may have accomplishments under your belt that you’ve barely stopped to take pride in. They may not seem like a huge deal to you, but referring to them in moments of self-doubt might just change your perspective. No matter how big or small, they demonstrated key characteristics of yours that will set you up for future success. Even if your current goals are far bigger than anything you’ve achieved so far, your smaller previous achievements can still shine light on your potential. Also, you’ve likely gained a great deal of knowledge, insight, maturity, etc. since then, meaning that you’ve grown alongside your goals.

By trusting that you can and will succeed, it’s more likely that you’ll go for everything you want in life. You won’t hold yourself back from trying new things or putting yourself out there. Refuse to sell yourself short, and watch all that you accomplish!

2- Your ability to bounce back from failures, setbacks, etc.

As significant as having faith in your ability to succeed is, having faith that you can succeed DESPITE the obstacles that you encounter is even more powerful! It’s much easier to believe in your success when the pathway to get there is smooth sailing. However, it’s incredibly rare not to encounter any bumps in the road when pursuing a goal. Your power lies in knowing that you can and will overcome those bumps. Once again, looking back on past scenarios when you’ve risen above your challenges can be helpful in instilling this trust. Not only will this help you go for what you want (similarly to #1), but it will help you go for it more fearlessly.

Of course, believing wholeheartedly in your own resilience doesn’t mean you’ll have zero fears about what could go wrong. It does mean, though, that those fears are a little quieter and less influential in your decision making. You know that no failure you endure will be the end of the world, nor will it stop you from eventually succeeding. This faith will translate to courageousness, bringing you a whole lot closer to getting everything you want!

3- The fact that everything happens as it’s meant to happen

When something significant in life doesn’t go the way we hoped, it can have us second-guessing everything. As normal and natural as that is, it’s these moments when it’s most important to lean on our trust that it’s all happening how it’s supposed to. A primary example of this concept is that what’s meant for you can’t miss you. After a tough breakup, you might be questioning why the relationship didn’t work out when you wanted it to so badly. In reality, though, there’s a reason why it ended—it’s just not meant to be (whether not right now or not at all).

Even if you can’t imagine it now, a better match for you will find you when the time is right! Believing in this will allow you to let go of the wrong things for you with more confidence and ease. Letting go may not be a walk in the park, but it’s easier when you trust that it’s ultimately for the best. Even if it takes time for something better-suited for you to come along, your faith that it will come along should bring you so much more peace and even excitement.

4- The fact that hard times don’t last forever

Hardships, especially those of great severity, can feel never-ending. However, the ever-changing nature of life proves that they won’t be. They might leave long-lasting impacts, but the worst of it can only go on for so long. While the emotions surrounding it may never completely fade (depending on the severity of the situation), they won’t forever be at their height. Better days are ahead, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. You’ve overcome 100% of your bad days. Having faith that this season of life is temporary will give you the strength to keep pushing through. So much of our strength comes from necessity, hence why we have to go through hard times to become stronger. You wouldn’t be the person you are today if you didn’t go through everything you have!

5- The fact that things will fall into place and make more sense as life goes on

As per the last two points, hard times can have us asking, “why is this happening?”. It doesn’t make sense in the moment. Just like everything happens as it’s meant to, though, everything happens for reasons that could take months or years to reveal themselves. It’s okay not to understand why, but it’s possible to simultaneously have faith that you’ll understand better over time. This belief should help you find a sense of closure. Instead of fixating on the “why” of it all, you’ll pour that energy into moving forward. You’ll go on with your life, and when you least expect it, it’ll all start to make more sense.

The bottom line…

Faith can positively impact so much in our lives, from the way we pursue our goals to the way we handle difficulties. It takes time to develop, which you can start to do by zoning in on past evidence of whatever it is you’re looking to develop faith in. Once you do develop it, watch how much better you feel as a result. That doesn’t mean you’ll feel great all the time (no one does!). However, you should feel lighter, more confident, more at peace, less fearful, and more courageous all in all. Consider it your new greatest superpower!
